Big Systems Day
Hey there!
A few new things today:
The items contained in this build are not currently in the game. Ill post another devlog with the release of v0.1.2.
I overhauled the save system so that it's much more reliable. If you were one of the unlucky few that had save system issues before, it should be fixed. That being said, the saves are very early and temporary and bound to be wiped a few more times before I have the final cut. I also implemented an autosave system that should save every 30 seconds to avoid browser data loss if it closes oddly or crashes. Hopefully.
I improved the node system! Now nodes save and load their full state properly and everything should restore as far as generation is concerned. Nodes can now either be password protected or hackable. You'll have to find passwords inside of lore logs from admins/users as well as within the world itself.
I added a DEV node, which is just a cheat node. The password is my username. It adds the ability to add as many cycles as you want, cores as you want, as well as unlocking all nodes and connecting to any node regardless of connection path or unlock requirements. You can use this for free exploration or testing as you like! This will be hidden/removed in later versions of the game.
You can now scroll the terminal up... and down. I'm honestly not sure how to fix the scrolling down thing, but if you send a command it'll properly snap it back to where it's supposed to be. That’s a known bug and a work in progress.
I have implemented a camera system! You can connect to camera “CAM” nodes around the world and connect to them. When you do, you can optionally switch your view to the view of that camera, allowing you to see through it.
Finally, last but not least, I added an offline progress system! You’ll continue to gain Cycles for as long as you're offline. I might halve the progress or even third it in the future, but that's where we are. You can come back to the game and gain progress! You'll see how much you gained, if any, on startup as a little message under the normal startup messages.
